Click here to check out my review for the first book in this series, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas!
Title: Crown of Midnight
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Release Date: September 2nd, 2014
Publisher: Bloomsbury Children’s Books
Synopsis from Goodreads:
“A line that should never be crossed is about to be breached.
It puts this entire castle in jeopardy—and the life of your friend.”
From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil. Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart. Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.
This second book in the thrilling Throne of Glass series follows Celaena Sardothien after the events in the first book of the series, Throne of Glass. Crown of Midnight definitely plays with your emotions.
Wow. This book was absolutely amazing, so much better than Throne of Glass. So action-packed and full of twists and turns. I spent the whole book thinking one thing but the ending showed me that I was completely wrong.
This book is full of so much information, but it was not written in an “info-dumpy” way. Sarah J. Maas’ writing is just so perfect, and all of her books that I have read, I have completely adored. This second book left me with answered, unanswered, and new questions!
The amount of twists and turns in this book was unreal. Most things/events were completely unpredictable. The ending was so crazy and I am still working on wrapping my mind around all of that information. I cannot wait to read The Assassin’s Blade to find out more about Celaena and other characters. I also cannot wait to continue on with the series since the books just keep getting larger, which means more time spent with these beautiful characters.
The world-building ad just the world in general are fantastic. The characters, and just about everything in these books are so complex, I love it! I enjoy every single character, especially Fleetfoot. Celaena is so amazing and such a strong female character. Dorian is adorable and Chaol is my little cinnamon roll.
That is all I can say without spoiling things but if you are in need of a amazing fantasy read, check out Sarah J.Maas’ books!
Happy reading and have a lovely day!🌻
